Of course, as he adds in an update,
The aid is going to get there. Sad to say, it will come too late for hundreds of thousands. Food, water, clothes already are within tantalizing reach of the worst-hit areas, but there's no next place to take them, no system to distribute them.
Don't forget, the people of the United States are the most generous people in the world. We don't expect our Government to spend our money for us. We take care of that ourselves.

There are some things that only the United States Government can do. No amount of money sent to the Red Cross or the United Nations can dispatch a carrier battle group or seven water purification ships to the region.
