Just in Case You Didn't Believe It

Here's the pic. The Smurfs get carpet-bombed.

In this photo of a poster provided by Unicef on Tuesday Oct. 11, 2005, the cartoon Smurfs and their village are seen being bombed by airplanes. The recent advertising campaign by Unicef, both in print and on television, is intended to teach schoolchildren about the horrors of war. The title in French at left bottom reads 'Don't let war deystroy the world of children'.

Very nice, Unicef. Of course, "war" only means bombs falling from the skies. And we all know which nation makes war that way. Sometimes the bombs go astray and the children suffer. But the nation in question takes great pains to make sure that doesn't happen.

Other people make war by blowing up school buses and discotheques and malls where young people and children gather. They do this deliberately. I am sure Unicef disapproves of that, too.

So I can't wait to see the poster of Jihad Smurf boarding a Tel Aviv bus with dynamite strapped all around his cuddly blue body.
