Episode #746.
Today President Bush's Thanksgiving message moved over the wire. Every president does it; it's standard boilerplate stuff, but it helps fill the huge editions of newspapers that are published on and around Thanksgiving to accomodate the Black Friday advertising.
I put it on the desk of our church page editor. She was begging me for anything and everything to fill the section she has to put out for next week.
A few minutes later she came up to me with the print-out in her hand.
"Did you give this to me?"
"Yes. I thought you needed stuff to fill the Thanksgiving pages."
She pushed the paper back at me. Her voice trembling, "I'm not running this. He's not my president."
And so it goes.
