Barry Bonds

I confess when I was young I used to enjoy playing sports more than watching it, so I never watched much. We used to go down and see the Phillies at the Vet ($2.50 for the cheap seats) in the early '80s when they were good. I still haven't been to the new stadium. My favorite sports to watch -- hockey and basketball -- are terrible to watch on TV. You have to see the whole space, not just follow the puck/ball, which is what the camera usually does. I soon give up in frustration.

But something ought to be said about Barry Bonds. Something that takes a fair view of his accomplishments, and puts him in the perspective he deserves. He reflects his times.

Here's my nomination for that something.
