Sometimes, I really am speechless. Check out the State of Arizona's memorial for the 9/11 victims.
The first commenter on the thread chimes in with, "And they say 'The Path to 9/11' was a total misrepresentation?"
Which opens a shaft of connection -- mine, not his -- between the "Path to 9/11" flap and the recent row over the Pope's alleged slander of Islam and the Islamist response. There is no real connection between the church-burners of the Mideast and the media-decriers of the West, but in their own way they fall into the same error, they trip over the same universal human foible: emotion overriding common sense and disguising itself as logical fairness.
The one says "you must respect religion," but it means "you must submit to respect MY religion while I revile yours." The other says "we must tell only the truth about 9/11," but it means "you must hand over the narrative of 9/11 to ME so that I may give it the proper treatment."
