Think like Basher Assad, or, for that matter, any second-rate Middle Eastern legacy thug. See if this isn't the most natural thing in the world:
"Use the Saddam-era refugees and al-Qaida crazies I let settle in my western end to turn up the heat on the Americans in Iraq. Just enough to make Uncle Sam come to me and politely ask for my help. Give it to him -- screw those Saddamites and jihadis anyway; they would do the same to me -- in exchange for my free hand in Lebanon."
And will we be stupid and suicidal enough to take the bait? We did in 1991, but things are different now. Or are they?
