Blind Pedestrians Say Quiet Hybrids Pose Safety Threat. Actually, I've thought about that. At low speeds, like in a parking lot or garage, when only the electric engine is working, the car is for all intents and purposes, silent. You can hear crickets chirping.
I've come up behind seeing people who were looking the other way and who had no idea there was a moving car right behind them. You'd think a car would register on your awareness meter, but I suspect modern Americans have learned to listen for the engine. Since it's not "Death Race 2000" I let them live. In such cases a pounce on the horn would have been fun, but cruel.
