Obama has a number of retired brass on his short list, including James Jones:
Oops. Does that mean if Obama follows his advice and puts more Americans in harm's way, he'll be a "chickenhawk?" Or is the whole point of having a military man as vice president to provide chickenhawk-meme cover fire? Could be the first meme-driven candidacy.
Seriously, in the four-year madness, is there any ritual more pointless than the breathless anticipation over vice president picks, and the speculation over what they will mean to a presidency?
Jones, a Vietnam vet born in Kansas City, MO (swing state alert!), was a career military officer rising to one of the highest posts possible. Now retired, Jones has been critical of the number of troops currently in Afghanistan.
