Good to Know

Found this way down at the end of a "Houston Chronicle" sidebar piece on the Summit of the Americas, focusing on Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez' "fiery speech to a packed soccer stadium" on Friday:

Near the end of his speech, Chavez talked about growing up in the Venezuelan countryside, where peasants bring their pigs to slaughter every Saturday.

Predicting the eventual demise of the United States, Chavez said: "Just like Saturday awaits every pig, Saturday awaits for every empire."

Thank you for making that clear. Absent from other reporting on the speech that I've seen.
