... physically perpetrated on a computer (accidentally or not) and did it recover? If so, how?

(This post is inspired by a local computer-user list on which a member posted a yikes! help! query, on behalf of a friend, as to whether a wine-drenched keyboard--after being rinsed in water--could go into the dishwasher and thus recover [presumably good as new]).
