Nature of the Beast
I suppose it's inevitable that when you're a notorious anti-war, anti-administration American provocateur group like MoveOn.org, and you do a one-time good deed on behalf of U.S. troops, in cooperation with groups closely allied to the U.S. military, you get news stories written about you and published all over the place, in which you get to further tout your agendas as well as draw in sympathies.
And because you're another group that does multiple good deeds every month in direct cooperation with U.S. troops, full time, all the time, without further agenda, like Spirit of America, you rarely see the light of day in newsprint except in the occasional Wall Street Journal op-ed.
