Yes and No

Isn't it just like The Beiderbecke Affair to start a post deep in jazz trivia and bungee into Baudelaire and out again and end with a song list. And in between announce, incidentally an engagement.

Congratulations. She said "yes." Or, better, or worse,

O and the sea the sea crimson sometimes like fire and the glorious sunsets and the figtrees in the Alameda gardens yes and all the queer little streets and the pink and blue and yellow houses and the rosegardens and the jessamine and geraniums and cactuses and Gibraltar as a girl where I was a Flower of the mountain yes when I put the rose in my hair like the Andalusian girls used or shall I wear a red yes and how he kissed me under the Moorish wall and I thought well as well him as another and then I asked him with my eyes to ask again yes and then he asked me would I yes to say yes my mountain flower and first I put my arms around him yes and drew him down to me so he could feel my breasts all perfume yes and his heart was going like mad and yes I said yes I will Yes.

His list is "warning to impatient lovers" in song. I think the list needs Frank's version of "All the Way," with that great Sammy Cahn in full parental mode. And, Céline, "no."

O and the overdub the 24-track overdub sometimes like fire and the glorious digital pitch correcting thingies and the producers in the better nightclubs yes and all the queer little '50s songs and the pink and blue and yellow album covers and the Nelson Riddle arrangements and Quebec as a girl where I got these enormous deadly sharp elbows yes when I put my voice on the Sinatra song like Kenny G used Louis Armstrong or shall I do Louis Prima yes and how they'll flock to hear me under the Branson marquee and I thought well as well Sinatra as Kenny G and then I asked them with my eyes to ask again yes and then the fans called me back for another curtain call yes to sing yes my loyal fans and first I put my arms up with my enormous deadly sharp elbows yes and drew them up to me so they could feel my celebrity all perfume yes and their hearts were going like mad and yes I said yes I will do a duet with dead Frank Sinatra Yes.
