RIP, Cpl. Carrie French

"Mikala Hylinski, the half-sister of Idaho National Guard Cpl. Carrie French, places a rose on French's casket at the Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, Idaho, during an interment service Wednesday, June 15, 2005. French, who was killed when the vehicle in which she was riding was struck by a bomb in the northern city of Kirkuk, is the first female soldier from Idaho to die in fighting in Iraq."

There is no holier spot of ground
Than where defeated valor lies
By mourning beauty crowned
[Henry Timrod]

Unfortunately, speaking of things holy, Fred Phelps was there. He of the "God Hates Fags" church. If there's anything homosexual activists and committed evangelical Christians could start with as common ground, it ought to be finding a way to weave a magic circle around this pathetic moralistic mosquito at settings like this so he is neither seen nor heard.
