So Much for PC Europe

After reading this account of the vicious depths to which European football fans will stoop to insult a rival team:

Players and antiracism experts said they expected offensive behavior during the tournament, including monkey-like chanting; derisive singing; the hanging of banners that reflect neofascist and racist beliefs; and perhaps the tossing of bananas or banana peels, all familiar occurrences during matches in Spain, Italy, eastern Germany and eastern Europe.

Followed by this account of football enthusiasm in the Middle East,

I started to wonder:

What happens when a team from Saudi or Iran or someplace like it really makes a run at the World Cup? What will the behavior of the average English or German audience be like? And how will that be received back home in the Middle East?

And what name will historians give to the subsequent war?
