St. Nicholas Is A Scary Old Man
[Posted by reader_iam]
As I mentioned before, Target has no room for Santa, which is its right, of course. Now it seems there's no room for St. Nicholas in Vienna's kindergartens. (Which is also the right of that city to decide.)
Oh, no need to get all "Krampus" about it! Just get 'em a Playstation 3, or whatever, and they won't care. Who needs myth or tradition?"
Right?

St. Nick, nein! A ban on St. Nicholas at Vienna's kindergartens is taking some of the ho-ho-ho out of the holidays for tens of thousands of tots this year.
And it's creating a political ruckus.
Municipal officials insist the sight of a strange bearded figure evokes fear in most kids. And they point out that the policy is more than a decade old — though they concede it is being enforced more rigorously now.
